FOCUS Preschool
FOCUS Homeschool is the only Alaskan public homeschool program that does not require sibling enrollment for Pre-K students to enroll and receive allotment funds.
Our Pre-K students receive an introductory pre-school bundle, allotment funding for core curriculum and materials, group in-person learning activities, community and staff support, access to a library of Pre-K activity bags, developmental screening of strengths and needs, and a performance-based report card.
FOCUS provides optional monthly Pre-K learning activities, where students learn together with other students in a supportive, hands-on environment. These activities are also great for Pre-K parents to meet and exchange ideas and encouragement.
- Family Engagement Activities – These optional events will be offered to families with preschool students and siblings throughout the school year and will focus on KRRC (Kindergarten Readiness Report Card) standards and skills.
FOCUS has minimal requirements for Preschool Students:
- Monthly Teacher Contact – Families chat with an Advisory Teacher once per month to discuss progress, planning and resources.
- Brigance III Screening – Students are screened by their Advisory Teacher using the Brigance III Screening Tool in Fall and Spring.
- Kindergarten Readiness Report Card (KRRC) – Families use the KRRC as a guideline for instruction and report progress to their Advisory Teacher in Fall and Spring.
